With Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is in the air and everyone is wondering how to let their special someone know how deeply they care about them. Perhaps the traditional flowers and chocolates will do, but perhaps you want to do more this year.
Here at Team Panella, we believe deeply in five distinct love languages, which can be applied not only in your love life, but in all areas of your life, including business, familial, friendships, etc.:
1. Words of Affirmation
These words can be as simple as “thank you” for doing the dishes, and as eloquent as you can imagine. Using words to validate another person– by thanking them, letting you know that you appreciate and love them, etc. can be a powerful tool of love.
2. Acts of Service
Actions speak louder than words, right? Maybe your partner hates filling up her car with gas, or maybe he hates doing the laundry. Doing a simple task for them, whether they dislike it or not, is a way of showing that you were thinking of them and that you care.
3. Giving/Receiving Gifts
This is where chocolates, flowers, and more fit in– perhaps your partner feels most loved when you pull a wrapped box from behind your back. Delightful squeals and large smiles are indicators that you’ve done the right thing– a tangible gift can be a reminder about how much you care.
4. Quality Time
Spending time with your partner is a necessity– in today’s busy rush-around life, it is sometimes difficult to stop and remember what is important. Click the title to find a list of activities to do in February around Louisville with your partner.
5. Physical Touch
A squeeze of the hand, long hug, or kiss on the cheek are simple ways to show that you care.
Sometimes combining these languages can make for a powerful evening; perhaps your spouse enjoys gifts AND quality time. Preparing dinner at home is a combination of these two languages! Get creative this holiday, and let us know how you share and receive love best!
